Benefits of a Subaru EV
Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles
The biggest benefit to buying an EV is the Government incentives for Zero Emissions Vehicles. The government of Canada has launched the Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEV) Program to encourage the purchase of vehicles with low or zero emissions. Under this program, incentives up to $5000 are available and the savings are passed on to the consumers. That means your Subaru Vehicle is now more affordable, starting with the purchase. Zero Emissions
Our current EV lineup features the Zero-Emission champion - Subaru Solterra. The EV SUV, with its electric powertrain, produces zero emissions while providing all the performance, reliability, and adventure of our other offerings. This means less carbon footprint for the environment-conscious and a cleaner, greener planet for our future generations.
Fuel Savings
One of the biggest advantages of owning an EV is the Fuel Savings. With the cost of fuel rising globally, Subaru enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for a Subaru EV that they can take on their adventures, all while saving a ton of money on refuelling.
Low Maintenance
With significantly less moving parts, and even fewer need for maintenance, low maintenance costs is one of the most underrated advantages of owning an EV. No need to regularly bring in your vehicle for expensive and time-consuming oil changes, so you can enjoy adventures on your Subaru EV with no interruptions.
HOV Lane Access
Not many people know this, but EVs can legally access the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane even if no other passengers are in the car. Take your whole family or go solo; your Subaru EV can always access the HOV lanes in the province of Ontario.
Range Anxiety No More
Range anxiety is one of the biggest factors in EV adoption and is often the deciding factor for most consumers when choosing which EV to buy. With that in mind, Subaru has designed the Solterra with a long range that provides plenty of room for your everyday adventure. Check out the Road Trip Challenge, performed by our team here at Barrie Subaru, which pushes the limits of the Subaru Solterra.
Frequently Asked Questions
Unlike traditional gas-powered internal combustion engines (ICEs), which convert burned fuel into energy, EVs use the energy stored in their battery to run the electric motors connected to the wheels, driving the vehicle forward.
Every Subaru EV comes with a level 1 123-volt home charger that you can plug directly into an outlet in your garage, allowing you to charge overnight. You can also opt to install a level 2 240-volt charger that provides significantly faster charging.
Currently, there are 3 levels of chargers available in Ontario.
The Subaru Solterra's Level 1 (120-volt) charger takes approximately 24 hours to reach an 80% charge, making it the perfect overnight option.
Level 2 (240 volt) charger is something that you can install at your home for an additional cost, but it pays off by halving the charging time required to reach an 80% charge.
Level 3 DC fast chargers are mostly available at public charging stations and can charge the Solterra rapidly, from 10% to 80% in under an hour.
EVs have quickly evolved to become just as capable, if not more capable, than competing gas-powered vehicles. They provide quick acceleration, smoother rides, and better handling for automotive enthusiasts, and zero emissions for the environment-conscious.
Therefore, the Government of Canada incentivizes EV adoption by providing rebates on EVs, making them a solid choice for the budget-conscious. Check out the top benefits of buying a Subaru EV from Barrie Subaru here.
With fewer moving parts than traditional gas-powered vehicles, EVs are generally less expensive to maintain and repair. They do not require an oil change, and their simplified propulsion tech means fewer parts that need maintenance and repair over time.
Charging your EV outside your home has never been easier. There are over 2,900 public charging stations with over 8,000 charging ports in Ontario (as of May 2024). This number is expected to grow substantially, with the deployment of 33,500 EV chargers expected all across Canada in the coming years.
These public charging stations provide EV owners quick and reliable access to charge ports, making for worry-free adventures wherever you go.
